baby love : a portrait

It brings me such joy too to be able to follow families through my photography as they grow.  Megan and Ryan Newman got married over three years ago at the lovely Royal Palms in Phoenix.  As you can see in this image from their wedding, they openly show their love and have fun with life.  And they are another family in the baseball world – I hear that Ryan is the youngest minor leagues manager out there.

And their little guy, William, is one happy fellow.  Just five months old for this portrait session and so precious.

Here are photos from my recent maternity portrait session with my newest friends, the beautiful and glowing Kathleen Reynolds and her home-run-hitting hubby, Mark.  They are the sweetest couple and wonderful to work with (just like all my clients – I love you all!).  I can’t wait to meet their little guy due in November (how’s that for perfect end-of-season timing!).

My Girls. Sisters. In Love.

I’m so in love with this photo of my two girls so I wanted to share.  I can see the feelings they have for each other in this photo, that they seem to express in such fleeting moments.  They seem to fight so much at times, but they always have this amazing love and adoration for each other that comes bounding back so quickly.  As a parent, I can only hope and do my best to nurture this positive relationship between them so that it lasts a lifetime.

Kelly Ashworth, of Kelly Ashworth Design, has just announced a new line of baby announcements available for purchase  on her Etsy site.  Two of the sample cards feature babies I’ve photographed (with new names!).

I LOVE these designs, and the prices are amazing!  I might just have to have another baby so I can send out one of these cards myself.

Newborn Portrait of Brody

Again, probably a little old to be considered a newborn, but here’s another adorable, little baby!  And I agree with his mom – Brody already looks like a little man.  Oh, so cute.

I’m looking forward to watching these two grow up together!

 

A “Newborn” Shoot

Little Ade’s mom, Heather, and I had a little trouble getting this newborn shoot scheduled, so it’s a older “newborn” shoot, definitely an adorable baby shoot from a few weeks ago… They grow so quickly!  He doesn’t look like this anymore, so here’s a reminder

 

A Beautiful Belly – Maternity Portrait Session

I’ve slowly begun to realize that maternity photo sessions are a whole ‘nother ball game.  I’ve tried shooting them in the same fun, carefree style that I enjoy for engagement sessions, but the photos that seem to be appreciated and requested the most are those that capture the quiet reflection between parents and their soon-to-be-born baby.  Here, our hilarious and fun-loving Heather Lewis pauses for a moment to reflect on Ade, who was recently welcomed as the newest family addition:

 

Precious Time at Pottery Barn Kids

Pottery Barn Kids is running a promotion right now with Precious Time Photography for a complimentary portrait sitting and a free 8×10 with a $200 purchase.  So, why am I mentioning this?  Well, guess who the photographer is…  Yep, it’s me!  The portrait sessions in Scottsdale are 9/22 and 9/23, and in Chandler the sessions are 9/24 and 9/25.

I’ve worked with Precious Time Photography on a couple of occasions, usually with the Janie and Jack store at Scottsdale Fashion Square.  The company finds their contracted photographers throughout the nation by looking for a photographer that shoots with a photojournalistic, or candid, style.  Before working with them, I was mostly shooting weddings, and I really didn’t know if I could shoot an active child in my style with the limitations of a background.  But after the experience and seeing parents’ reactions to the pictures, I’m now a fan.  And I’m back shooting some more sessions this fall!
